OVERIJSSEL OVERZEE Overijssel Overzee (“The province of Overijssel Overseas”) is a historical teaching package for groups 7-8 (age 10-12 years) about the history of slavery and slave-trade in the Dutch colonies. Pupils learn about traces of slavery in Suriname, the Caribbean, Indonesia and their own region within the Netherlands: the province of Overijssel. CORE PRINCIPLES The starting points of this digital learning resource are environmental education, citizenship and a method replacement approach. Other core aspects are digital research skills and cultural development.
