PiCO: Intelligent Tutoring System in Digital Education

A new definition of “training experience”, which must be dynamic, full of stimuli, individual, has pushed us to develop a system of “Adaptive Learning” suitable for meeting individual customization learning needs. The virtual coach PiCO of Piazza Copernico is able to dynamically regulate the e-learning process through a Student Model (which collects data relating to learning preferences and acquires information during self-assessment moments) and a Teaching Model (which uses algorithms to determine the most effective method and pace for the presentation of teaching material based on the feedback provided by the Student Model). It is a multimodal tool, which can present the contents with different methodologies. The transformation brought by generative AI allows for more integrated, more streamlined training flows that are more closely anchored to the needs of the individual.
